James Knapp, associate professor of English, has been named interim director of the honors program at Eastern Michigan University.

"I am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute to the further development of EMU's excellent honors program," Knapp said. "The honors program plays a crucial role in the academic and cultural life of the University, and I look forward to working with the wonderful staff, faculty and students responsible for its success."
Knapp, of Ypsilanti, has been at EMU since 1998. He has won several honors at EMU, including: the Faculty Scholarship Recognition Award for best faculty book or article in 2003; and the Provost's New Faculty Research Award in 2000.
Knapp earned his doctorate from the University of Rochester in New York and has a master's degree from Temple University.
