The following are news briefs about important
activities and events happening at Eastern Michigan University.

Wilbanks |
- Board of Regents: The
EMU Board of Regents is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Sept.
22. The schedule for the meeting is as follows: Athletic
Affairs Committee, 12:45-1:30 p.m., room 201; Faculty Affairs
Committee, 12:45-1:30 p.m., 205 Welch Hall; Student Affairs
Committee, 1:45-2:30 p.m., 201 Welch Hall; Educational
Policies Committee, 1:45-2:30 p.m., 205 Welch Hall; and
Finance and Audit Committee, 2:30-4 p.m., 201 Welch Hall;
and the regular Board Meeting, 4:15 p.m., Welch Hall. As
a result of a time gap between the finance meeting and
the board meeting, the board meeting may start 15 minutes
earlier. Roy Wilbanks is the board chair and Fran Parker

- Flu shots available: Flu
shots for seasonal flu are now available at Snow Health
Center. No appointment is necessary. Cost is $25. For more
information, contact Mandy Lefeld at 487-1107. Seasonal
flu shots also will be offered at satellite clinics as
follows: Tuesday, Sept. 22, 4-6 p.m., Walton/Putnam Lounge;
and Wednesday, Sept. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., room 104, Student

Lindke |
- Meet the VP: Bernice
Lindke, vice president for student affairs and enrollment
management, will host a "The VP is In" program
for EMU students Wednesday, Sept. 23, 4:30-6:30 p.m.,
and Thursday, Sept. 24, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Student
Center lobby. Lindke will conduct office hours. Students
are encouraged to stop by for a cup of coffee and chat
about their experience at EMU. For more information,

- Student Org, Volunteer
and Student Employment Fair scheduled Sept. 23: Campus
Kickoff: Student Organization, Volunteer and Student Employment
Fair is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
Student Center Ballroom. This event is for students to explore
careers with nonprofit agencies, meet face-to-face with agency
representatives and ask what it's like to work in the nonprofit
organization. Students seeking an opportunity to help others
in the community are encouraged to attend. Dress appropriately.

- ELearning Training-Developing
online courses and content: Learn more about
the exciting possibilities of eLearning. The training
is designed for instructors who have never used an online
course management system and are interested in developing
a Web-enhancement, hybrid course or 100-percent online
course. No specialized technical skills or abilities
are needed to take part in the workshop or for instructors
to develop an online offering. Participants who successfully
complete the series are awarded a certificate and
typically implement their newly-developed course shell
in the upcoming academic term. Workshops will take place
Tuesdays, Sept. 22, and 29, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and
Wednesdays, Sept. 23, and 30, 2:30-4 p.m., Room G05,

- Jay-Z in concert at Convo
Center: Rapper Jay-Z performs in concert Wednesday, Oct. 21, 8
p.m., Convocation Center. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets
to see the multiple Grammy Award winner are $25 with a
valid EMU student I.D. Limit two tickets. Tickets for the
general public are now on sale, Convocation Center. Tickets

- International student
health insurance: All registered international
students with an "F" or "J" visa
will be billed for student health insurance, UNLESS
the student has received an "approved" waiver
from Snow Health Center, no later than 4 p.m., Sept.
