“An RFP (request for proposal) was issued and both
Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola responded,” said John Lumm,
chief financial officer for EMU. “While both companies
could fully meet the University’s requirements, Pepsi
Cola’s proposal is the most financially advantageous
to the University.”
The contract continues through Sept. 16, 2018.
The contract will provide EMU with $5.2 million in combined
sponsorships, football ticket purchases, vending machine
proceeds, product cost savings and promotional items over
the 10-year contract.
The University will retain the right to provide 20 percent
of convenience store cooler space for competing products
and catering operations will be exempt from exclusivity.
Pepsi Cola will become an official athletics and University
sponsor.
