When I came to Eastern Michigan University four years ago, I wanted to
work at a place where I could develop confidence in my abilities while,
at the same time, grow professionally. Eastern has proven to be that place.
I attribute much of my success and ability to accomplish a lot in a relatively
short amount of time to the support of my colleagues across campus, and
my students.
For me, the most rewarding part of my job is observing those "ah ha," moments
in class when a student finally gets it and, in turn, understands how
to use it. I feel like I am not just here to provide them with information.
Instead, I provide them with practical, hands-on experiences that will
enable them to become more efficient and better-prepared health educators
in the school and communities in which they will serve.
Teaching here has provided me with the opportunity to learn about the
human drive and spirit by observing and talking to students about their
challenges, successes and their dreams. I truly feel privileged to be
a part of their educational experiences.
