UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT: Eagle Crest
Conference Center and Golf Course will be
managed by a new nonprofit corporation, Eagle
Administrative Services. At its Oct. 24 meeting,
the EMU Board of Regents authorized EMU
President Susan Martin to take action to
terminate the current managment agreement
between EMU and the Eagle Crest Management
Corporation.

The Regents authorized EMU President Susan Martin to take action to terminate the current management agreement between EMU and the Eagle Crest Management Corporation, and to enter into a new agreement with the new nonprofit corporation, Eagle Administrative Services.

Earlier this year, the Board of Regents authorized an ad-hoc committee comprised of Vice Chair Roy Wilbanks, Regent Jim Stapleton and Regent Floyd Clack to examine Eagle Crest's operational structure. Subsequent to the completion of its review, the committee reported its findings back to the full board.

"The Board of Regents believes that the creation of better oversight, a clearer delineation of responsibilities and authority, and the commitment to devote additional resources to Eagle Crest will significantly improve its operations," said Wilbanks. "We feel this new structure will accomplish that."

Eagle Crest Management Corporation (ECMC), a subsidiary of The Eastern Michigan University Foundation, has managed the Eagle Crest properties since July 2001. The University, foundation and Eagle Crest Management Corp. mutually agreed to terminate the management agreement and related commercial leases Oct. 3.

The Board of Directors of Eagle Administrative Services will consist of Wilbanks, Stapleton, Clack, the University's chief financial officer and the University's associate vice president for facilities.
