With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up, Eastern Michigan
University employees are making sure those less fortunate
will have food on their tables.
More than 600 people have already signed up for EMU's
annual holiday feast Tuesday, Nov. 13. For every ticket
sold for the luncheon, 50 cents will be donated to the
food bank. Dining Services staff also will be collecting
canned goods through Nov. 17.

The money and food benefit Food Gatherers, a local food
bank that serves Washtenaw County.
Faculty, staff and students have been supporting Food
Gatherers for 15 years, said Roth Woods, advertising and
promotions coordinator for dining services.
"It seems the harder the times, the more generous EMU
people get," said Woods. "The campus is incredibly generous."
Last year, employees donated $1,042 and 1,214 pounds of
food, said Woods.
"EMU has been an essential supporter and partner of Food
Gatherers since our inception," said Eileen Spring, president
and CEO of Food Gatherers. "Students, faculty and
dining staff all play a role in our anti-hunger efforts.
Thanks to EMU for fighting hunger where we live."
"This is a great program that brings the EMU community
together for a good cause," said Ann Klaes, associate director,
dining services.
