Listening sessions provide numerous opportunities for campus, community groups to become involved in presidential search

The tenor that Eastern Michigan University's presidential search has taken has been music to David Woike's ears.

"I'm really pleased to see the level of involvement the search committee (Regents Advisory Committee) is taking in bringing the process to the people, so to speak," said David Woike, department head of music. "It's about time we saw all of the constituencies involved. I'm pleased to see we have more faculty representation on this search team compared to the last one."

To date, more than 450 persons from the campus community have taken the opportunity to attend "listening sessions" to learn more about the search process — which began roughly seven weeks ago — for EMU's next president.

Since Nov. 10, there have been 18 listening sessions for various campus constituencies to weigh in with their thoughts about what qualities EMU's next president should possess and ask questions of the Regents Advisory Committee about the overall search process. And there are at least another 20 listening sessions scheduled through Dec. 22 for campus groups to become involved in the process.
