I like change. I like things to be different, and I love the variety
of my job at EMU.
I came here from the medical library at Henry Ford Hospital 15 years
ago because I wanted to teach. As the health sciences librarian, I teach
people how to find health and medical information, both as a class and
one-on-one. I also work on the reference desk and am co-chair of the Information
Services Team. So I wear a lot of hats, and I enjoy that.
I work with students in nursing, occupational therapy, clinical laboratory
science, health administration and part of the School of Health Promotion
and Human Performance. I love the energy the students have. They have
this newness and earnestness about them that's very genuine.
Within my job, there are so many opportunities to do different things.
I can teach; I can involve myself in service opportunities; I can publish.
The thing, I think, that makes working at EMU unique is that we have
an amazingly diverse student population, from the 18-year-old freshman
to the mature 60-year-old returning for a career change. They come from
all kinds of different backgrounds. I love that you just never know who
you'll be able to meet, talk to and assist.
