The following are news briefs about important
activities and events happening at Eastern Michigan University.
- GOLD VIP concert
reception: Graduates
of the Last Decade (GOLD) are invited to attend a private
reception in the Stadium Club at the EMU Convocation
Center for The All-American Rejects concert, Monday,
Dec. 18. The event is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will
feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres, courtesy of
Weir Manuel Realtors of southeast Michigan, and a
cash bar. GOLD alumni attending the event also
will receive a VIP parking permit. There is no cost
to attend. However, advance registration and a concert
ticket are required. To R.S.V.P, contact the Office

- All American Rejects
in concert: Tickets are now on sale for All
American Rejects with Motion City Soundtrack, The Format
and Gym Class Heroes. The show is scheduled Monday, Dec.
18, 6:30 p.m., EMU Convocation Center. All tickets are $25
and are available at the Convocation Center Ticket Office,
487-2282, or www.tickets.com; and through TicketMaster, 248-645-6666,
or www.ticketmaster.com.

MLK HONORS: Nominations
are currently
being accepted
for the 2007 Martin Luther
King,
Jr. Honor Awards. |
MLK Jr. Honor Award nominations
sought: Nominations are currently being
accepted for the 2007 Martin Luther King, Jr. Honor
Awards, to be presented at the MLK President's Luncheon
Jan. 15. Those eligible for the award must be a member
of the University community or the broader community;
a person who exemplifies or exemplified the values
and ideals of Martin Luther King, Jr.; and a person
who has made a significant contribution to the University
and/or community. Nominations should include biographical
information as well as a statement that provides the
rationale for the nomination. For information on award

Nominations are due in the Department of Diversity
and Community Involvement, Room 340 C, EMU Student
Center, by Wednesday, Dec. 20. For more information,

- UHS Pharmacy
closed for winter break: UHS Pharmacy
will close for winter break Dec. 22 and reopen Jan.
2. If you receive your prescriptions from the pharmacy,
please check your supplies and call the pharmacy
for a refill before Dec. 20. By law, another pharmacy
cannot refill your prescription if they cannot contact
us to transfer the prescription from our hands to
theirs. UHS Pharmacy will do everything it can to
handle any insurance or other issues to make sure
EMU employees don't run out of medications during
the break. However, please call by Dec. 20 so the
pharmacy can make sure it has your medication(s)
on hand to fill your prescription(s). For more information,

- Youth basketball
group outings: Attention, EMU faculty
and staff members. Do you have a son or daughter
playing youth basketball this winter? If
so, EMU Athletics would love to host their team at
an EMU men's or women's basketball game. Group ticket
and concession discounts are available. For more information,
contact the EMU Athletics Department, 487-1050.
- The EMU Podcasting
Initiative: The
Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development Center is accepting
applications for participation in the EMU Podcasting
Initiative during winter 2007. For an application

Deadline for applications is Monday, Jan. 15. For

Undergraduate Symposium
XXVII: The nomination process for the
March 30, 2007 Undergraduate Symposium is under way.
Forms and abstract guidelines can be downloaded at
www.emich.edu/symposium and an online version will
be available soon. Watch EMU Today for updates. Deadline
to submit nominations to respective departments is

- Faculty eFellows program: The
eFellows program was created to support faculty in getting
the resources needed to integrate technology into their
teaching. The program has been continued for the 2007-2008
academic year for tenured or tenure-track faculty and full-time
lecturers. The deadline for winter applications is Monday,
Feb. 5. Priority funding will be given to proposals that
focus on projects which involve collaborations and partnerships
between faculty and students to integrate technology into
learning or research; redesign face-to-face formatted courses
into Web-enhanced courses that focus on specific pedagogical
issues; or involve integration of technology into the learning
outcomes of a course being proposed for the new General
Education curriculum. Other outcomes also may be funded.

- Faculty Showcase call
for papers: The Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development
Center is accepting proposals for papers, posters and workshops
for the Faculty Showcase March 9, 2007. For application guidelines
