METRE STICK  1999-2003  24" x 48½"  brass plaque, photographs, metre sticks

Statement:

A major shift occurred in my work in 1970; two conditions surfaced, one by choice and one not. The combination of the two, as I entered Graduate School, opened the path to make work that didn't require fine hand work, but emphasized invention to accomplish any task.

The result was a trek into unknown arenas; performance, video, installation and photography replaced lithography and etching.

The latter condition subsided in 1975, consequently, Drawing remains without blemish.

My work is simply based on whatever interests me at the time, an idea surfaces, which leads to a final work. The format is driven by the idea.
