Why I give

Ron Demonet

Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Special Education’s reputation as being one of the largest and most comprehensive Special Education units in the country is what attracted Ron Demonet to set up an endowed scholarship in the program.

Demonet set up the Ann Demonet Endowed Scholarship in Special Education in memory of his wife Ann, who was a Special Education teacher in the Clarkston School System for many years.

“I chose to establish an endowed scholarship in memory of my wife, Ann, because she had several friends that came through EMU’s program, and they spoke highly of it,” said Demonet.

Ann was a passionate educator that headed up the SPICE (a special education preschool program for children ages 3 to 5 years old) program and went on to develop the DOLLS program, working with parents of special children from birth to three-years-old.

“Ann loved her work and wanted to see more attention placed on the needs of these children and their parents. She would be excited to know she could help and encourage teachers in this field.”
