  1. How do I know which Gen Ed Catalog to follow?

  2. Students enrolled in any college or university during or after Fall 2007 semester must follow the General Education requirements in the Fall 2007 catalog http://www.emich.edu/aac/forms/GEPCatAdd.pdf. Students enrolled at any college or university prior to Fall 2007 have the option of continuing with their current requirements or choosing the 2007-09 program http://www.emich.edu/aac/forms/GEPCatAdd.pdf.

  3. What are the General Education Program requirements?

Students must satisfy five areas: (1) Effective Communication, (2) Quantitative Reasoning, (3) Perspectives on a Diverse World, (4) Knowledge of the Disciplines, and (5) Learning Beyond the Classroom.   7. What is the WI graduationrequirement?

  8. All students must complete an approved upper-level Writing Intensive course. This may be a required course within the major and you should check with their major advisors.
  9. What courses can I take for WI credit?

  10. In the schedule book, Writing Intensive courses will always be indicated with a “W” after the course prefix and number.

  11. Where do I get information about LBC courses or experiences?

  12. The Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) requirement is met by satisfying two (2) of the six (6) groups through a combination of experiences and/or courses. The six (6) LBC groups are (1) Self and Well-Being, (2) Community Service, Citizenship & leadership, (3) Cultural & Academic, (4) Career and Professional Development, (5) International and Multicultural Experiences, & (6) Undergraduate Research.   15. If I am transferring in courses how do I know what courses will count towards EMU’s General Education Program?

  16. All transfer credits will be tabulated upon your being admitted to EMU. Your transcript will indicate those courses that will count towards your General Education Program. Contact an academic advisor if you question any specific courses.

  17. What do I do if I want to take a course at another college or university and have it count towards EMU’s General Education Program?
