Historic Preservation Alumni
In 2004, several alumni of the Historic Preservation Program founded an official chapter of the EMU Alumni Association. This group already has become one of the largest and most active chapters within with the Alumni Association’s family. The group regularly sponsors preservation-based workshops, and coordinated the program’s 25th Anniversary party in 2004 and 30th Anniversary party in 2009, including a “Mystery” geo-catching tour of historic US-12 as well as the gala anniversary dinner held at the historic Detroit Club and attended by officials from EMU, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the National Council for Preservation Education.
Each year the alumni chapter sponsors an orientation in conjunction with the program for new and current students atop historic Sherzer Hall on EMU’s campus. Two of its founders, Bill and Tamara Click, received the Association’s “Outstanding Young Alumni” award in 2006. This award was also given to Derek Spinei in 2011.
