Criteria for Admission:

  1. Have a baccalaureate from an accredited institution, with a minimum 2.7 GPA
  2. Meet the Graduate School admission requirements
  3. Submit a 1-2 page personal statement answering the questions included in the Personal Statement Guidelines for the Program to which you are applying (please click on the appropriate program: Gerontology or Dementia)
  4. Have an interview with the gerontology program director. Students must be admitted to the graduate certificate program before enrolling in required course work

To Begin the Admissions Process:

  • Submit an application for Graduate Admission with applicant fee to the Eastern Michigan University Graduate School (may be submitted online: www.emich.edu/admissions/apply/) Submit official transcript of schools you have previously attended
  • Arrange for an interview appointment with Director of Aging Studies Program, Andrea Zakrajsek- azakrajs@emich.edu
