How do I nominate someone?

To nominate a person or group for a Gold Medallion:

Staff Award Nominees

  • Complete the nomination form. Please include a description of contributions made by the nominee (related to the category for which they are being nominated).
  • Ask two colleagues who are familiar with this person/group to each submit a letter of support. Please be sure to advise them of the award category.
  • Be sure to submit the nomination form and letter of support by March 7, 2008

To nominate a person for a Faculty Appreciation Award:

  • Complete the nomination form. You must include a brief description of the person's contributions to the Division. Letters of support are not required.
  • Be sure to submit the nomination form and letters of support by March 12, 2008

Student/Student Group Award Nominees:

  • Complete the nomination form. You must include a short narrative that describes the specific contributions by the nominee related to the category which they are being nominated.
  • Solicit ONE letter of support for the nomination.
  • Be sure to submit the nomination form and letters of support by March 12, 2008 at noon.


Can a person or organization be nominated in more than one category?
All Gold Medallion winners are selected by committees comprised of seven previous Gold Medallion winners with staff representatives as well as individuals external to our division. The decisions of the committee are final.

Who selects the winners?
It is possible to nominate an individual or organization for more than one category. Separate nomination forms, including letters of support, are required for each category of nomination.

When will the winners be announced?
Student awards will be presented at the Student Gold Medallion Awards Ceremony Celebrating Excellence in Leadership and Community Service:
Tuesday, March 25, 2008     3:30 p.m.     Student Center Grand Ballroom

Staff awards will be presented at the Founders Day Salute to Excellence Breakfast:
Thursday, March 27, 2008     8:15 - 10:30 a.m.     Student Center Grand Ballroom
