Positions
are open to work-study and non work-study students. Pay rate for
all positions is $7.15/hour.
Acquisitions Student Assistants
Contact: Carol Richardson (487.0020, ext. 2052)
Duties: Perform clerical and manual tasks for book processing and
general office duties.
Required:
- Must be able to read, understand and follow directions, and
have attention for
details.
- Knowledge of the computer keyboard and the library catalog system
(Voyager) helpful.
- Must be able to work shifts between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through
Friday.
Client Services Student Assistants
Contact: Marlene Carroll (487.0020, ext. 2155)
Duties:
- Answer telephone console and refer calls.
- Answer questions about building services.
- Collect money for fines and other services.
- Arrange scheduling of rooms in building.
Required:
- Excellent communication skills.
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and maturity.
- Must be available to work some evening and weekend shifts.
Information Services Student Office Assistants

Duties:
- Process materials for the Annual Corporation Reports and Michigan
Documents
- Pamphlet Files.
- Assist in preliminary book order searching and preparation of new
book requests.
- Photocopy materials.
- Word processing.
- Assist in shelving books within the collections.
- Compile monthly reference question statistics.
- Errands.
- Mail distribution when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Mailroom Student Assistants

Duties: Sort and deliver mail to offices within the library. Required:
- Must be able to read, understand and follow directions.
- Must have good communication skills and attention for details.
- Need to be able to lift heavy containers.
- Must be able to work between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Monday through
Friday.
Materials Access Student Assistants
Contact: Karen Dixon (487.0020, ext. 2144) Duties:
- Reception/Circulation Desk responsibilties (Check-out and renew
books; check-in books, answer the phone, answer client inquiries,
transfer or refer the call as necessary, prepare overdue notices,
link barcoedes
to patron records, locate and checkout reserve materials; shelve
and shelf read reserve materials, monitor gate alarms for people
entering
and leaving the building).
- ARC stroage responsibilties (collect and return materials to ARC
storage).
- Stacks responsibilities (sensitize books, sort books for shelfing,
put books in order on trucks for shelving, shelve circulating books
and reference books, record statistics, shelf read, pick up books
around building, assist in closing building).
- Late night responsibilities (check client ID's upon entering the
building, lock
doors, notify DPS of any problems).
- Assist in Client Services as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required: Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts. |
