RefWorks - Blackwell Synergy
Instructions for Transferring Citations

Direct Export into RefWorks 

In Blackwell Synergy

  1. Check the Box adjacent to the titles of the records you wish to save
  2. Click Export citations link
  3. Following Include, select either Citation for this article OR Citation and abstract for this article
  4. Following Format, select RefWorks
  5. Select Download references button
  6. Log into RefWorks and your records should automatically appear in the Last Imported Folder

Save as Text File and Import into RefWorks 

In Blackwell Synergy

  1. Check the Box for the records you wish to save
  2. Select Download all highlighted abstracts to Reference Manager
  3. Under Include, select either Citation for this article OR Citation and abstract for this article
  4. Under Format, select Reference Manager
  5. DESELECT Direct Import
  6. Select Download references button
  7. From the File menu, select Save As. Save your file as a text file (with a .txt extension) to the location of your choice (e.g. desktop)

In RefWorks

  1. Login to your RefWorks database
  2. Select References/Import from the toolbar
  3. Select RIS Format as the data source and Reference Manager as the database
  4. Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer
  5. Click Import
  6. Your citation(s) will be imported into the Last Imported Folder. You may now move them into the folder of your choice.
