Direct Export to Refworks
- Conduct a search and select the records you want
by clicking
the check box to the left of each citation
- Click the Export button on the gray button bar toward
the top of the screen
- In the Export section, select Marked
records from this search
- In the Export
To: section,
select RefWorks
- Click the Export button
- Log into RefWorks and your records should automatically appear
in the Last Imported Folder
Save as Text File and Import into RefWorks
In FirstSearch indexes:
- Conduct a search and select the records you want by clicking
the check box to the left of each citation
- Click the Export button on the gray button bar toward
the top of the screen
- In the Export section, select Marked records from
this search
- In the Export To: section, select Text file
- Click the Export button
- You will be prompted to either Open with [either
a program name OR browse for program name] or Save to
disk the file (which is already named and is a text file)
- If you select Open with you will have
to choose an editor to view the file, e.g., NotePad, MS Word
- Click the OK button
- From the File menu, select Save As. Save
your file as a text file (with a .txt extension) [not a .doc extension] to
the location of your choice (e.g. desktop)
In RefWorks
- Login to your RefWorks database
- Select References/Import from
the toolbar
- Select OCLC FirstSearch as the
Import Filter/Data Source and select the appropriate database
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer
- Click Import
- Your citation(s) will be imported into the Last Imported
folder. You may now move them into the folder of your choice.
