RefWorks - ProQuest
Instructions for Transferring Citations

Databases:
ABI/INFORM Global
CINAHL [Can only Save as Text File and Import into RefWorks]
GenderWatch
New York Times Archive
ProQuest Nursing Journals

Direct Export to Refworks

  1. Conduct a search and select the records you want by clicking the check box to the left of each citation
  2. Click the Export link (on the line above the first citation)
  3. Click Export directly to RefWorks
  4. Log into RefWorks and your records should automatically appear in the Last Imported Folder

Save as Text File and Import into RefWorks 

In ProQuest indexes:

  1. Conduct a search and select the records you want by clicking the check box to the left of each citation
  2. Click the My Research tab toward the top of the screen
  3. Click Export citations into EndNote, ProCite, RefWorks or Reference Manager
  4. Click Download in a format compatible with ProCite, EndNote, Reference Manager and RefWorks
  5. From the File menu, select Save As. Save your file as a text file (with a .txt extension) to the location of your choice (e.g. desktop)

In RefWorks

  1. Login to your RefWorks database
  2. Select References/Importfrom the toolbar
  3. Select ProQuest as the Import Filter/Data Source and select the appropriate database
  4. Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer
  5. Click Import
  6. Your citation(s) will be imported into the Last Imported Folder. You may now move them into the folder of your choice.
