Dick will work to reign in the cost of health insurance for working families and job providers. The more that individuals are empowered, and medical professionals are empowered, the better our health care system will be. Our legal system is a substantial part of the problem. We are going to have to reign in law suit abuse in Michigan.

Huckabee has been a leader in improving health care for Arkansans. He created the ARKids First program, a nationally recognized initiative that provides health insurance to tens of thousands of children who previously had no access to health insurance. Huckabee created the Healthy Arkansas initiative to encourage Arkansans to stop smoking, exercise more and eat healthier. He now has expanded that effort to the Healthy America program, which is his NGA chairman's initiative.

Since
2004, Dr. Douglass has focused his research in Michigan
on the status of Medicaid-dependent nursing homes
in urban areas and the challenges that are faced by
these institutions who care for the most vulnerable
people in our society. He served on numerous faculty
committees at the College and University levels and
as Program Director in Health Administration for 15
of the last 18 years. Since arriving at Eastern
Michigan University, he has conducted several externally
funded research projects.
