Pre Homecoming Week Events/Activities
- Brand My Ride Contest: EMU employees and students are encouraged to place a static EMU-branded decal on their vehicle windows. Participants will be randomly selected to receive prizes, including a Xbox 360 and Rock Band game. Winners will be announced during the third quarter of the Homecoming football game and must be present to win. EMU decals are available at various main campus locations. - Brand My Door Contest: EMU students living in the residence halls and apartments are encouraged to decorate their door in the 2009 Motown Homecoming theme. Judges will select the best door to receive a prize for each resident. Winners will be announced during the Homecoming football game and must be present to win. - Banner Decorating Contest: Express your spirit and creativity. Students living in EMU residence halls and/or members of student organizations are encouraged to pick up blank banners from the front desk of the Center for Student Involvement starting Monday, September 7. All contest entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, September 25, to the Rec/IM front desk to be eligible for contest prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the Homecoming Pep Rally on Thursday, October 1. - Homecoming Court: ''And the winner is…'' The deadline for Homecoming king and queen applications is 1 p.m. Friday, September 25. Applications are available online or at the Campus Life front desk. - Homecoming court voting: To vote, visit emich.edu/campuselections.
- Motown Donut Drop: 9 a.m., EMU main campus. Kick off Homecoming Week by ordering Krispy Kreme donuts for your office or department. Homecoming VIPs will deliver the donuts right to your office beginning at 9 a.m. Quantities are limited. All orders must be received by noon Thursday, September 24. Provide your name, phone number, office name, office location and number of staff members. To order, e-mail Cathie McClure at mmcclure@emich.edu. Please make sure only one person per department places the order.
- Student Government Doughnut Drop: 9 a.m., southwest corner of Pray-Harrold. The Student Relations Committee will be distributing doughnuts on behalf of Student Government to students with EMU pride (while supplies last).

- Campus Picnic: President Susan Martin invites all members of the EMU campus community to celebrate the fall semester and welcome newcomers to campus during the annual All-Campus Picnic, Tuesday, September 29, 11:30 - 1 p.m. at the Student Center North Patio. - University House Calls: 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. EMU administrators visit residents in the freshman center to welcome them to campus.
- Detroit Tigers Excursion: Sponsored by Campus Life, departure is at 5 p.m. to Comerica Park from the Student Center Information Desk. Tickets to the excursion are $25 for current EMU students and $40 for faculty and staff, which includes transportation, admission to the game and ''fun money" to be used toward game food. - No Limit Texas Hold ’em Poker Tournament: Registration 6:30-7:25 p.m. on the Rec/IM fifth floor. The tournament begins at 7:30 p.m. Entry fee is $6 or $4 with a contribution of two non-perishable food items (cans preferred), which will be donated to the SOS Community Center. - 3rd Annual Spirit Troops: Throughout the day, EMU students and employees spotted wearing non-EMU college paraphernalia will be given a “ticket” providing them with a coupon to the Rec IM Pro-Shop or the Student Center Bookstore. Those spotted wearing EMU clothing will be given a prize. Sponsored by the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR). - Residence Hall Lounge Decorating Contest: Students living in EMU residence halls are encouraged to join their Leadership and Advisory Board (LAB) in decorating their residence hall lounge in the 2009 Motown theme. Participating LABs will be chosen to receive monetary prizes. Winners will be announced during the Homecoming football game. Saturday, October 3 — Homecoming Day
- Eagles Landing Fan Zone: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Oestrike Stadium. Eagles’ Landing is a fan-friendly area where EMU fans can hang out before select Eastern Michigan home football games. Located just outside of Oestrike Stadium (EMU baseball stadium), Eagles’ Landing will feature live entertainment, food and beverages, Fan Zone activities, special offers from our sponsors, and much more. - Student Tailgate Area: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., north of Rynearson Stadium. The area just north of Rynearson Stadium is home to group tailgates hosted by student and Greek organizations, along with various reunions. Entrances into the tailgating area will be located off of Westview Drive and Hewitt Road. Entry will require a game ticket or a valid EMU student ID. - Shuttle Service to Rynearson Stadium: 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m., bus stops on Forest Street at Sill Hall, the Student Center and outside the Eastern Eateries. Shuttle service resumes after the third quarter from drop-off point in front of the Convocation Center and will run until one hour after the game. - Eastern Michigan University Alumni Band: Join the Eastern Michigan University Marching Band and reconnect with old friends for another exciting Homecoming game performance at EMU's Rynearson Stadium. ALL past band alumni are welcome and encouraged to participate. - EMU vs. Temple Homecoming Football Game: 1 p.m, Rynearson Stadium. Cheer on the Eagles to victory over the Owls. EMU welcomes back and honors the 1959 football team and the class of 1959 during the pre-game show. Be sure to get in the stands before kick off for a special appearance by a member of the Temptations, Allie Woodson, to sing our national anthem.
