Melody Neely
Assistant Professor of Immunology and Microbiology Wayne State University
The instruction and advice given to me through the EMU Honors Program led me in a completely new career direction. I came to EMU as a "non-traditional student" - coming back to school after an absence of 15 years. The Honors Program permitted me to do original research. A faculty mentor steered me to an excellent summer internship.
My honors work led to a research proposal that resulted in a national scholarship. I especially appreciated the way the honors faculty cared about me and the other honors students. They always made time for me. I love my work as a professor. I look forward to it every day. And I have the faculty at EMU to thank for leading me in the right direction.

Doctoral student, Yale University
The Honors Program was the best part of my undergraduate years at Eastern Michigan University. The honors courses were superb, I received excellent mentoring, and I had wonderful opportunities for independent work I have since completed a master's degree in Civil Engineering at Northwestern University, and I will soon complete my doctorate in Engineering and Applied Science at Yale University.
The honors courses at EMU are certainly comparable in quality to courses at both Northwestern and Yale. I made great decisions when I chose EMU and became active in the Honors Program.
