School of Health Promotion and Human Performance alumni are successful in a variety of professional arenas.  While we certainly cannot take full credit for their accomplishments, we hope and believe that the strong HPHP professional preparation these graduates received has contributed to their achievements.

Recent examples of HPHP Alumni successes include:

• The Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness presented awards to five EMU HPHP alumni for their work to establish and direct exemplary physical education programs.  The honorees are Dean Kramer, Nichole Straka Brumme, James Wicker, Mary Jo Perkovich, and Kirk Pedersen. 
• Brett Pedersen, an alumnus of the Physical Education program (with a minor in Health Education) was recently appointed Vice President Elect for Health Education of the Michigan Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MAHPERD), the major professional organization in Michigan for Health and Physical Educators.  He will serve for three years in this capacity.
