Computer Training

The office of Human Resource Development has established a small computer training lab (capacity 5-6 trainees). The HRD computer lab is available for use by other departments. The Academic Advising Office has already held several sessions of advising & ISIS training in the lab. Staff have several other training options depending on the nature of the computer skills they seek.

Information Communications Technology (ICT) offers introductory courses and individual instruction on a limited basis. Recent UC courses have included: Wordperfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Intro to Windows, etc.

This Web site contains 300 SkillPort self-paced enrichment courses that can be taken on a PC, anytime and anywhere, either online or downloaded to your computer. These courses are offered free to faculty, staff and students and cover ten topic areas: Microsoft Skills, Communication, Desktop Computer Skills, Enterprise Database Systems, Internet and Network Technologies, Leadership Skills, Operating Systems and Server Technologies, Project Management, Software Development and Web Design. (These courses can not be played on a Macintosh computer.)

Materials covering basics of Dreamweaver, Photoshop Elements and Acrobat.

Learning Resources & Technology (LR&T) offers computer skills programs for faculty and students, but occasionally has space for non-instructional staff (487-0020 x2114). Recent LR&T classes have included: Intro to the World Wide Web, Intro the HTML, Macintosh Overview, Internet Overview, etc.
