Voluntary Work Schedule Adjustment Program
Pilot Program
EMU is introducing the Voluntary Work Schedule Adjustment Program (VWSAP). This is a pilot program that provides staff employees with the opportunity to voluntarily take unpaid time off from work for a portion of a pay period (Plan A / B) or an unpaid Leave of Absence (Plan C) and still maintain benefits. Time off under this Program is not charged as annual leave. An employee may volunteer to participate in the Program by submitting a completed Voluntary Work Schedule Adjustment Agreement request form to his or her supervisor (see link below). We have provided a document that provides an explanation of the available options and also, answers to frequently asked questions.
Discretion to approve or disapprove an employee's request to participate in Plan A, B or C, is reserved to the supervisor and Director/Department Head, based upon the operational needs of the University. Once approved, the agreement may be terminated by the Director/Department Head or the employee upon giving ten (10) working days written notice to the other (or less, upon agreement of the employee and the Director/Department Head.) Termination shall be at the end of a pay period.
This is a one (1) year pilot program which will be re-evaluated at the end of the fiscal year June 30, 2010.
