Staff at Eastern Michigan University have a variety of resources to draw upon for their professional development. Employees' development goals will vary. What is appropriate for one employee may not meet the needs of another. A sample of low- or no-cost options follows.

Supervisors can assist their employees in identifying areas of knowledge and skills to be strengthened. If the new skills are required for the performance of the job, the supervisor bears a greater responsibility for aiding the employee. EMU cannot pay for all types of development. Ultimately, it is each individual's responsibility to pursue their own professional learning.
