Performance Management

The objectives of the EMU Performance Management System are to enhance communication between an employee and supervisor, develop employees, and achieve superior continuous improvements throughout the entire organization.

University policy and our collective bargaining agreements outline "probationary," "qualifying," and "break-in," periods for EMU employees. Performance evaluations are required within these periods. Additionally, annual documented performance evaluations are required thereafter.

Non-bargain for groups (AP, AC, AH, and CC) are defined as "at-will" employees and do not have a traditionally defined probation period. A "progress review" is still required.
