Why You Like Working Here
I enjoy the interactions with the students. They are extremely energetic and keep me on my toes. It’s an interesting, dynamic population to work with. Never a dull moment.
Favorite Campus Spot
Either my office or in the classroom when I am teaching the women’s self-defense class.
Favorite EMU Moment
Teaching, it’s something I really enjoy. There’s always something new that comes out of those conversations. I feel like I still have a lot to learn from every person I meet. In teaching, you do learn a lot about your students and yourself as well.
On a professional level, students inspire me. They inspire me to do better and keep doing what I do. On a personal level, inspiration comes from life itself. We are blessed every day we wake up and have life. I have the ability to do what I love every day and not many people can say that.
I like playing volleyball. I learned to play in high school, but I didn’t pick it back up until about two years ago for a rec league.
I have to laugh because I could come up with several quotes, but a lot of my students recognize “stay in your freaking lane.” When I meet students at the beginning of the school year, I use that quote often and I relate it to a lot of different things like activities and decisions that they make. When I run into them on campus, they’ll look me and say: “Officer Dorsey, I’m staying in my lane.”
I hate driving, so I would fly.
