Why You Like Working Here

I like the students and staff. I enjoy working with the people here! I love the hard work and persistence of the students.

Favorite EMU Moment

I came here to direct a program called Keys-to-Degrees for student parents/single parents. My first group of students graduated in 2015 and I remember feeling so glad I went through the career change to come to EMU.

Favorite Campus Spot

My favorite spot is the Martin Luther King, Jr. statue between Welch Hall and Boone Hall. I usually go there twice a month to think about his legacy. He never deviated from his message of equality. It’s a humbling place for me to reflect, get my emotions out and re-focus.

Inspiration

I’m inspired by seeing the successful progression of the students and staff I lead. As a supervisor, I feel like it is important to be able to help others along the way. I’m quite unorthodox at times. I try to show love, motivate and encourage students to persist here.

Surprising Fact

In middle and high school, I was an archery champion. I did it a little in college as well.

Super Power

If I had a super power, I would want to be invisible. I want to hear the “real deal” conversations—the ones that go on behind closed doors. I want the truth and nothing but the truth.
