Evaluations & Performance Reviews

Eastern's performance management system is designed to enhance communication between you and your supervisor, help you develop and grow and create an environment of continuous improvement University-wide. Evaluations happen during your probationary, qualifying and break-in periods and yearly after. Here are the specific details.

AC/AH/AP/CA/PT/PE/CS Employees

The online performance review is designed to evaluate you on competencies and characteristics used to build the culture EMU strives for. To find out more about the system, attend a training or view instructions [PDF].

  • AP, AC, AH and CC: you don't have a traditional probation period, but you do have a new hire progress review at 90 days. Your annual review occurs with every fiscal year.
  • PE/PT: your break-in period is 30–50 days, qualifying period is 90, new hire mid-probationary period is 123 and your new hire probationary period is 245. Your annual review occurs on your date of hire.
  • CS: your break-in period is 30 days, qualifying and new hire mid-probationary period is 90 days and your new hire probationary period is 180 days. Your annual review occurs with every fiscal year.

Performance Review System

FM and CP/PS Employees

  • FM: your qualifying period is 20 working days and your new hire probationary period is 245 days. Your annual review occurs on your date of hire. Internal promotions can happen after 20 working days. See your performance review form (FM) [PDF].
  • CP/PS: your qualifying period is 90 days and your new hire probationary period is a year. Your annual review occurs with every fiscal year. Internal promotions can happen after 90 days.

Competency Models

EMU competency models identify the core and role-based competencies that are critical to Eastern's success. Role-based competencies are additional, essential competencies that may be tailored to one's specific divisional, departmental or individual job requirements/needs. Eastern has three competency models reflecting three job roles.
