Online Support
Our plan for academic support in the Fall 2022 semester takes student and staff safety and needs into primary consideration. All students are encouraged to consider meeting with their Success Coach and/or Peer Academic Coach virtually through Zoom. The tool is free, accessed through your my.emich.edu account, and very simple to use.
How do I use Zoom?
Start at emich.zoom.us and sign in with your EMU NetID credentials. On the Profile tab, add an image of your face! This will display when you don't have a camera available. The first time you access a Zoom meeting, your computer will prompt you to download the Zoom client application.

Yes! We ask all participants in virtual meetings, tutoring, SI sessions, and workshops to turn on their cameras. This allows for much better collaboration among participants and helps us all better understand one another through non-verbal cues (confused expressions, smiles, etc.).
What if I'm not comfortable with showing my environment on camera?
It's super easy to set up a virtual background or even just blur your own background.

What if there's a lot of background noise where I am?
You should always try to find a quiet location where you can focus when you need to join a Zoom session. Headsets ore earbuds may help.
What if I don't own a computer capable of using Zoom?
The Holman Success Center's Laptop and Chromebook Loan Program may be just the answer you're looking for! You can request to check out a laptop or Chromebook by tapping on the Holman Success Center tile of the EMU Engage app. Devices may be loaned short-term (single day or week) or long term ( the rest of the semester).
