Why should I choose EMU for a Master’s degree in IA?

Eastern Michigan University is a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance by the National Security Agency. The IA Program has mapped their courses to Committee on National Security Systems at 4011 and 4012.

The MS-TS with a concentration in Information Assurance program at EMU is designed to prepare personnel to assist organizations in meeting their need for information security in order to protect government and private information systems. The IA program provides education in information assurance to organizations geographically located in regional cohort groups, and provides graduate level education to meet the needs of mature adult learners.
The Information Assurance program at Eastern Michigan University provides professional development opportunities for those employed in information security, as well as those managing information systems, network security, programmers, operations staff, analysts, and strategic information planners in government and private industry. The result is a program that provides content relevant to the needs of the information security professional while accommodating the working adult. What are the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach to IA?
The interdisciplinary program is designed to:
Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the relationship between security, technology, and social change,

Develop advanced competencies associated with technical, supervisory, policy, and related positions in information security.
Broaden the career potential of individuals through experiences in reviewing, planning, and implementing information security techniques and programs.
Provide advanced preparation in information security in relating the technical and human components of general technical theory, information theory, and information security in the administration of information systems.

What are the requirements for admission to the IA program?
Meet degree admission requirements of the graduate school;
Possess a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75;
Possess a baccalaureate degree.

Program Completion Requirements
Complete all conditional requirements before starting the degree program;
Earn a minimum of 34 semester hours of credit applicable to the program;
Maintain a 3.0 GPA;
Complete all of the requirements for a program concentration in information assurance.
Complete a thesis or capstone option as part of the program, and;
Receive the recommendation of the program advisor.
