fair use
Refers to the guidelines passed in 1996 regarding the use of copyrighted material.
These guidelines provide a roadmap for educators and students to follow when
developing educational multimedia projects using portions of copyrighted works
under fair use rather than seeking permission.

A word used as a reference point for finding other words or information
metasearch engines
a search engine that uses the databases of individual search engines to compile
a listing of matching websites.
portfolio
A systematic and organized collection of work which measures the growth of
knowledge and skills and often includes some form of self-reflection.
search engine
A web site or other service on the Internet that allows users to search for
files and information. There are a variety of search engines available for
free use such as Yahoo, Infoseek, and Alta Vista.
URL (uniform resource locator)
A standard format for addressing files located anywhere on the Internet. URLs
can be used to address files on the world wide web, gopher, FTP, and other
Internet services.
virus
A computer virus is a type of computer program that is designed to hide in
the background and replicate itself from one computer to another by attaching
itself to existing programs or parts of the operating system.
