Eastern Michigan University

Wi-Fi Network Upgrades

The "legacy wireless" network at EMU was installed over the past twelve years based on a design that anticipated occasional or convenience-based usage of the network wireless system. As wireless technologies have improved and the availability of high-functioning wireless devices has expanded, demand for improved wireless service has increased more rapidly than the legacy system can support.

As a result, the University has funded upgraded wireless networks, or "Enhanced Wireless", in many buildings which will be implemented over the next three years. The upgraded wireless system will support many more concurrent wireless devices and users and will reduce the number of dropped connections to the wireless network.

Enhanced wireless is now available in the following buildings:

  • Alexander
