|Description:||DoIT offers a fee-based desktop backup service from CrashPlan. The service allows subscribers to backup their desktop or laptop securely to an encrypted cloud based platform. The service may be particularly helpful for laptop users as a hedge against loss or damage that may be more inherent in mobile devices.|
|Availability:||24/7/365 except during planned maintenance windows.|
Faculty and staff are eligible to subscribe for University-owned devices.
For personally-owned devices, students, faculty, and staff are eligible for a discounted service rate via CrashPlan's public offering.
University subsidized licenses may only be used for University-owned or managed computers.
Licenses for backing up personally-owned devices should be acquired directly from the vendor via their consumer offerings. A discount is available to EMU students and employees when you sign up at https://crashplan.com/emich with your EMU email address.
