Service Description

Service Name: Network Printer Installation
Service Name Synonyms: Connect printer, install printer, network printer, department printer, new printer, MFD (multi-function device), MFP (multi-function printer)
Description: DoIT assists with the connection of new printers, MFD or MFP devices. This service includes testing the network port, adding the device to "reserved DHCP", configuring scanning to e-mail and installing print drivers on the department workstations.
Availability: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm
Eligibility: This service is available to all EMU departments with University owned network printers.
Restrictions:

DoIT does not:

 

  • service or support personally owned or non-network printers/scanners.
  • install, support or service wireless printing other than via WebPrint (http://printing.emich.edu/index.php/home).
  • support tablet or mobile device printing.
  • support printer internal storage and folders, USB connections, network shares, security and access codes. These services are typically provided by the recommended vendors.
  • unpack, assemble, install and test large multi-function devices. This service is normally provided by the recommended vendor.
  • hardware repair service for printers. This includes paper misfeeds, jams, print quality problems, etc. This service is normally provided by the recommended vendors.
  • assist with equipment relocation or moves.
Support: Support is available through the IT Help Desk at 734-487-2120 or it.helpdesk@emich.edu . Phone support is provided during the service hours of the IT Help Desk.
