Google Apps for Education at EMU

Google AppsGoogle Apps for Education is a web-based suite of productivity tools used for communication and collaboration. It brings together email, calendars, contacts and groups, as well as functions such as word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and file storage.

Student Zimbra (EagleMail) accounts were transitioned to Google Apps in 2014. Since then, a number of faculty have opted to move to Google Apps as well. With Merit’s announcement that they are discontinuing Zimbra hosting services, I.T. is prepared to complete the university’s transition from EagleMail to Google Apps for Education during 2016.

Check the transition schedule in the FAQ to determine your transition date. You can also learn more about the upcoming transition, and your responsibilities, in the Going Google! Transition Guide

Note: Faculty and full/part-time lecturers may continue to opt-in to Google Apps at any time.
