Google Apps for Education at EMU

Google AppsGoogle Apps for Education is a web-based suite of productivity tools used for communication and collaboration. It brings together email, calendars, contacts and groups, as well as functions such as word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and file storage.

Student Zimbra (EagleMail) accounts were transitioned to Google Apps in 2014. With Merit’s announcement that they are discontinuing Zimbra hosting services, faculty, staff and instructor accounts were transitioned from EagleMail to Google Apps for Education as well.

While I.T. copied all email messages to Google Mail, faculty, staff and instructional personnel are responsible for exporting their EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase and importing them into Google Apps. Complete instructions are available in the Going Google! Transition Guide
