Google Apps at Eastern Michigan University

Google Apps is a suite of Google applications that brings together web-based productivity tools including: email, calendar, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet capabilities. Google Apps at Eastern Michigan University is available to students and faculty as a replacement to the current EagleMail (Zimbra) system.

Note:  Staff are not currently eligible to sign up for Google Apps at Eastern Michigan University.

Please consider the following before signing up for an account:

  • Students that use any facet of EagleMail as an integral part of any course or for scheduling with your supervisor may wish to wait and make the switch after the end of the Winter 2014 term.
  • There are migration/integration limitations with contacts, calendars, and child accounts - more details
  • You must prepare your EagleMail mailbox for migration or risk permanent data loss  - more details

Once your Google Apps account has been created:

  • It may take up to 24 hours before you can access your new Google Apps account
  • All of your emich.edu addressed mail will go through your Google Apps account
  • The Division of Information Technology will migrate your EagleMail mailbox to Google Apps
  • Your EagleMail account will be deleted 30 days later
  • You are responsible for migrating your EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase - more details
