EagleMail to Google Apps Account Migration Guide
All student EagleMail accounts were migrated to Google Apps as of June 2014. Consequently, your EagleMail account is locked. To migrate any eligible EagleMail data (i.e., calendar events, address book contacts, and briefcase files) not already migrated, contact the I.T. Help Desk at 734-487-2120. EagleMail content must be migrated to a Google Apps account before October 1, 2014, or risk permanent data loss.
Faculty can opt-in to Google Apps anytime as a replacement to the current EagleMail (Zimbra) system. The Division of Information Technology (I.T.) will migrate your EagleMail messages and mail folders to Google Apps. You are responsible for migrating your EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase content to your Google Apps account. EagleMail tasks, filters, preferences, Zimlets, tags, and flags cannot be migrated.
Google Apps enforces an account quota of 30GB and a maximum individual message size of 20MB. Before I.T. can migrate your mail from EagleMail to Google Apps, you must reduce the size of your EagleMail account below 30GB. We recommend completing the following steps to prepare for the migration of your mail from EagleMail to Google Apps:
- Identify EagleMail messages over 20MB and download any desired attached files
- Reduce an EagleMail mailbox folder hierarchy to 5 levels deep
- Reduce the size of your EagleMail account below 5GB
Calendar, Contacts, and Briefcase Migration (Within 30 days of Google Apps account creation)
You are responsible for migrating your EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase content to your Google Apps account. Follow these directions to export them from EagleMail and import them into Google Apps:
