 EMU World Cup Soccer

 

Come play soccer with other International and American students from EMU! Sign-up as a team of 8 people by filling out the sign-up sheet below. The event is set to take place Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, 2009.

Team Requirements: All teams must consist of 8 people, at least one of which must be female, and you must designate a team captain. Have fun choosing a team name! It's recommended that all teams consist of a diversity of players.

You can sign up as a student organization, a group of friends, a residence hall or dorm group, or even as a fraternity or a sorority! If you are an individual who would like to participate, please contact Eden at emcphers@emich.edu and we will try to find a team for you! Game play will either be in a bracket-style or round-robin style, depending on the number of teams that sign-up.

Rules and Regulations


Equipment

• Shinguards are highly recommended. All participants play at their own risk and EMU is not responsible for any injury.
• Each team member should wear the same color of shirt or jersey. Alternative shirts will be provided if two teams wear matching colors.

Rosters and Tournament Organization
• Each team must include at least one female player. One female player from each team must be on the field at all times.
• Teams can consists of no more than 8 players.
• The tournament will be organized by bracket or round robin, depending on the amount of teams participating. If 5 or less teams participate, the tournament will be round-robin. If more than 5 teams participate, each team will be placed randomly in a bracket.
• If round robin, ties will stand. There are three points for each win, one for each tie. The team with the most points in the end will be the winner.
• If bracket, the winning team advances. Ties will be broken by a shoot out.
• Ribbons and pins will be given to all participants. The winning team will be given an EMU World Cup trophy.

Tournament
• Games are two 25-minute halves with a 10-minute halftime.
• Field Dimensions are 45 X 55 yards. Lacrosse-sized goals to be used.
• To start a match, at least 4 players must be on the field at all times.
• Each game will be 6 players verses 6 players. Due to the smaller-sized field and goals, there will be no goalkeeper position.
• NO slide tackling will be permitted.
