Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Resource Center

Gay, straight, trans, bi, queer, questioning, gender benders, allies, and anything in between - if you have a question, together we'll find an answer. Come to your LGBT Resource Center for information, new friends, class resources, to volunteer, have fun, find quiet, support, answers, events, trainings, to watch a DVD, find your voice, and more! We strive to maintain an open and supportive environment for all. Our events are intended for everyone. That means YOU.

Mission Statement

Your Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Resource Center provides a comprehensive range of education, information, and advocacy services. We work to maintain and open, safe and supportive environment for all students, staff, faculty and the campus community.

Vision Statement

We recognize the intersections of gender and sexuality with the multiple identities we share such as race, ethnicity, age and culture. We choose to not merely tolerate, but respect and honor each individual. We hope to continue to build an inclusive campus community that is accepting of all people.

WINTER 2012 Programs and Events


Tuesday, January 17th in 352 Student Center from 3:00-5:00PM
Welcome Back Warm-Up: Join YOUR LGBT Resource Center as we get back into the swing of the winter semster. We will have some warm foods and hot chocolate to sip on. There will be games and a "Know the RC" raffle.


Monday, February 13th in 300 Student Center at 7:00PM
Queer Card Making: Have you ever wanted to find the perfect card for someone on Valentine's Day and think..."Hey! There aren't any!!!" Now you can come make your perfect card! We will be making some queer valentines (you know...glitter & unicorns)!

Monday, February 20th in 320 Student Center at 8:30PM
LGBTQ SNACKADEMICS: Join us for an all inclusive study session. Snacks provided. Brings your laptop and books and hunker down with your queer friends!

Thursday, March 8th in the Student Center Ballroom from 8:00-11:30PM
Pride Prom: It's here and the 2011 the theme is CIRQUE DU SOLEIL. Come dressed to the nine and dance the night away. We will have a photobooth on site so that you can take a keepsake home with you! This event is FREE!

Monday, March 12th in 320 Student Center from 3:00-4:15PM
SAFE Campaign: Help us ceate and sustain a campus climate that is inclusive of all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. This participatory training covers terms, myths, resources and current policies. (LBC Credit Approved)

Tuesday, March 13th in the Student Center Auditorium at 7:00PM
Chest Air: Storyteller Ivan Coyote will perform in her distinctive voice. Her latest short story collection is One in Every Corwd, young adult short tories compiled for queer high school kids. This program is part of Women's History Month 2012, sponsored by The WOmen and gender Studies Department.

Lavender Celebration: Faculty, staff and students are invited to join us as we honor and celebrate our graduates, role models and mentors that have made a positive contribution to the EMU LGBTQ community. This event is by RSVP only. Lunch will be provided.
