"Defying Boundaries"

Wednesday, March 30, - 2:00 – 3:15 p.m. 320 Halle

Humanism, Womanism, Feminism; Third Wave Movements.

This presentation will discuss ways feminism is happening today in multiple ways by different people. A panel of EMU faculty and students will discuss the issue of doing feminist activities and carrying on the movement for gender equality without claiming a label. They will explore ways that people of different genders, ages, ethnicities, and income levels do feminist-informed activities that both expand gender rights and react against conservative politics.

Thursday, March 31 – 7:00 p.m. 201 Pray Harrold

Olga Madar Endowed Lectureship:“Are We There Yet? Women and Political Leadership” by Patricia Ireland. Patricia Ireland is the most recognized face of feminism in the United States today. She has appeared on ABC's Nightline, PBS's Jim Lehrer News Hour, NBC’s Meet the Press, and CNN's Larry King Live. Cosponsored by the Office of the President; College of Technology; College of Arts and Sciences; Graduate Studies and Research, Graduate School; Department of History and Philosophy; Department of African American Studies; Department of Political Science; Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action; LGBTRC; and Diversity Programs.
