THE STONEWALL
A scholarship for EMU students who have shown leadership in LGBT issues.
The Stonewall Scholarship is given to EMU students who have demonstrated leadership and/or involvement in organizations, activities, or issues that promote a positive gay/lesbian environment. Neither application for nor acceptance of this scholarship indicates the sexual orientation of the applicant.
The scholarship was created in 1999 and it has been awarded each year since then. There are two $1000.00 scholarships available: one for an undergraduate student and one for a graduate student.
Eligibility criteria for the scholarship are:
An undergraduate or Second Bachelors student with a minimum EMU cumulative GPA of 2.75 who has completed 60 credit hours (EMU earned or accepted transfer credits) and who will be enrolled full-time in the upcoming academic year
A graduate student who has completed 12 credit hours of graduate courses, has a minimum GPA of 3.00 and will be enrolled full time during the upcoming academic year
Applications can be picked up at the LGBT Resource Center (EMU Student Center) or downloaded in MS word form from http://www.emich.edu/stonewall/application08.doc
The application process takes place during April of every year.
