RefWorks - Transferring References - PubMed

Save as Text File and Import into RefWorks 

In PubMed:

  1. Conduct a search and select citations to save by clicking the check box to the left of each citation
  2. Click the Send to: link toward the top right side, above the result list
  3. Choose Destination File
  4. Change the Format drop-down menu to MEDLINE
  5. Click the Create File button
  6. Save your file as a text file (with a .txt extension)

In RefWorks

  1. Login to your RefWorks database
  2. Select References/Import from the toolbar
  3. Select NLM PubMed as the Import Filter/Data Source and Pubmed as the database
  4. Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer
  5. Click Import
  6. Your citation(s) will be imported into the Last Imported Folder. You may now move them into the folder of your choice
