EMU Linguistics ProgramEMU Linguistics Program

Students should meet with their advisor early and often in planning their program and course schedules. Courses rotate at varying frequencies. For example, LING 401 and LING 402 are offered both fall and winter semesters and are frequently offered in the spring and/or summer sessions. However, most graduate courses are only offered every third semester, and there are normally no spring/summer graduate-level offerings in linguistics. There is no guarantee that a specific course will be offered each and every year.

Courses to be scheduled for an academic year are generally determined by May of the preceding academic year, although faculty leaves and other departmental considerations may later affect the planned schedule. When registering for classes for the Fall semester, students should plan in accordance with what will be offered in the subsequent semester(s).
