Phonetics and Phonology of the Kabardian Language

Kabardian, a language spoken in the Caucasus mountains of southern Russia, has a highly complicated consonant system and a relatively simple vowel system. This presentation explores some of the features of the phonetic and phonemic systems of Kabardian, including vowel coloring, consonant clusters, and dialectical differences in consonant inventory.
