MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSORS OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION

Article I: NAME

This organization shall be known as the Michigan Association of Professors of Educational Administration

Article II: PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization is to promote the advancement of the profession of Educational Administration through:

  1. Consideration of practices related to selection, preparation, certification, and in-service education of administrators.
  2. Cooperation with other agencies and organizations in the State concerned with the improvement of educational leadership, legislation, and other matters pertinent to quality education.
  3. Stimulation of research projects related to educational administration.
  4. Communication among institutions of higher learning and with administrators about existing programs and plans relating to the improvement of educational administration.

Article III: MEMBERSHIP

Those persons employed by institutions of higher learning who have been identified by the division of educational administration in their institution as having responsibility in the preparation and/or continuing education of educational administrators are eligible for membership in the organization.

Article IV: OFFICERS, ELECTIONS, AND EXECUTIVE BOARD

The officers of this organization shall consist of a president, vice-president and a secretary-treasurer each of whom shall be elected for a period of one year.

The Executive Board shall consist of the President, Vice-President, the Secretary-Treasurer, and the immediate Past President, plus three Directors elected by the membership of the Association.

The President shall be its presiding officer.

Officers shall assume their responsibilities as soon as the election of all officers has been concluded.

Vacancies on the Executive Board which occur prior to the Annual Meeting shall be filled for the unexpired term by the action of the Board.

Article V: MEETINGS

The Annual Meeting shall be held during the Fall Term of the academic year for  the purpose of electing officers, hearing reports, and transacting business as necessary for the good of the organization.  Meetings may be held at other times at the discretion of the Executive Board but not less than one additional meeting each year.

Article VI: DUES

Dues for the membership year, July 1 to June 30, shall be recommended by the Executive Board and approved by the membership.

Article VII:

This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the membership present at the Annual Meeting provided proposed Amendments are submitted 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting.

Article VIII:

By-laws may be adopted by action of the Association.
