As part of its ongoing strategic planning,
Eastern Michigan University worked with
a team of four consulting firms led by Pollack
Design Associates to develop a comprehensive
campus master/concept plan.
The study to develop a master/concept plan takes place within
the context of the University's mission
and strategic directions. The Eastern Michigan University
mission speaks to excellence in teaching, furthering knowledge
and creativity and to providing a learning environment that
positively impacts individual students, the collective University
community, and those beyond the campus's physical borders.
Furthering the impact of campus buildings and open spaces
as the setting for the pursuit of excellence is the foundational
task of this master/concept planning effort.
The project focus will be on the physical components of the
main, west and transition areas of campus. This will typically
include buildings, circulation (vehicular, bicycle, pedestrian),
open space, parking, landscape treatments and buildings assessments
in addition to the definition of long term goals and objectives.
The final concept plan, which occurred in four phases, was
presented to the Board of Regents in March 2004. All the public
presentations are included on this site.
