Jessica Taylor (BS -07): recently was appointed the Private Lesson Manager at the Merit School of Music in Chicago, IL,. She is also finishing her Master's in Public Service Management from DePaul University. Jessica's thesis research is on community-based art/music programs and how they impact civic engagement.

 

Melissa Bird (BMEI '08) and Karl Stein (BMEI '09) were married on July 9, 2011. They had wedding photographs taken in Pease Auditorium. Congratulations to the happy couple!

 

2010 Horn Studio graduates earn graduate school awards

Congratulations to Matt Hansen and Kyle Tolstyka who have both been awarded graduate assistantships with full tuition and a stipend for Fall 2010.

T.J. Perry (BM'09)

T.J. Perry was a semi-finalist at the 2010 National Trumpet Competition. T.J. and Jessica Brancaleone (BMEI '08) were married in July, 2010. Congratulations!

 

Dawn Marie Lindblade (BMEI '02)

Dr. Dawn Marie Lindblade was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Central Oklahoma in Fall 2011.Dr. Lindblade previously taught the clarinet studio at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. lindbladeThere she recruited a talented studio of the finest clarinet students from the state and worked diligently to give them many opportunities to perform in masterclasses and recitals. She also taught single reed methods, clarinet choir, and woodwind repertoire. Prior to that position she served as visiting professor of clarinet and chamber music at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. During her time there she worked to revitalize the chamber music program with her energy and enthusiasm. In addition, she was responsible for the design of the clarinet master’s degree program. Dawn has also served on the faculty at Alma College in Alma, MI. For more information, visit Dawn's website.

 

Rebecca Vega (MA '96)Vega

EMU music alum, flutist Rebecca Vega (MA '96) conducted the National Flute Association High School Flute Choir at the 37th annual convention in New York City: "Bright Flutes, Big City" August 13-16, 2009. Becky teaches full-time at Caldwell College in New Jersey where she conducts the wind ensemble and flute ensemble and teaches music education classes, conducting, music appreciation, and flute lessons. She performs in the flute octet, UpTown Flutes.
