Dear Prospective Member,
Greetings from Eastern Michigan University! If you are reading this letter, you have already begun looking into what Eastern Michigan has to offer beyond the classroom. As you plan your academic landscape and scope out various campus organizations and opportunities, you may be asking yourself, “What do I fit into most and how can I share my musical talents at EMU with or without being a music major?” If you’re asking yourself this or a similar question…you’ve come to the right place!
Comprised of 180+ of the finest musicians and students on campus, the Eastern Michigan University Marching Band, or EMUMB, has serviced this University for over 110 years and continues to be a driving force in campus life, tradition, and the spirit of EMU. As much a part of EMU as the green and white, the largest musical organization on campus captivates audiences of all ages at games, parades, and performances across the country. Remembered for its exciting music and creative show designs, as well as its relentless spirit for EMU Football, you will find the EMUMB an exciting place to spend your time on campus!
As a member of the EMUMB you will: meet lifelong friends, meet students from nearly all academic disciplines on campus, and share in spectacular performances each week with this outstanding organization AND be a part of the first CD of the Marching Band in the history of the program. As a member of the band, you will participate in one of the most exciting and diverse organizations at EMU, taking advantage of musical and social opportunities unlike any other collegiate activity. If you want to perform great music, with great friends, in a non-competitive environment, with one of the top collegiate bands in the country, then the EMUMB is for you!
