The Eastern Michigan University Wind Symphony is a select group of 60 highly skilled musicians who perform the finest in wind literature. Membership in the group is obtained by audition during the first week of classes in both the Fall and Winter Semester. The Wind Symphony continues a tradition of wind groups that have earned accolades from such distinguished composers as Karel Husa, Vincent Persichetti, Anthony Iannaccone, Dan Welcher and John Corigliano. The Wind Symphony tours throughout Michigan each Spring. Congratulations to the Wind Symphony for their outstanding performance at the 2011 Michigan Music Conference.

The Symphonic Band at Eastern Michigan University performs the best of traditional and contemporary literature for the collegiate concert band. Selected to provide a setting for participating students to improve their own musical understanding and appreciation, repertoire showcases the special strengths of participating students and, on occasion, invited soloists and composers. Membership in the group (of both music majors and non-music majors) is obtained by audition during the first week of classes in both the fall and winter semesters. The Symphonic Band performs on campus several times during the school year.

The Concert Band, new in Winter 2011, is open to all students in the University. No audition is required for participation. This course is designed for non-music majors wanting to further develop their individual and ensemble skills through presenting concert band literature in rehearsal and performance. Music major participation on secondary performance areas is welcomed and encouraged. Course may be repeated for credit.

The EMU Marching Band has a long tradition of musical and entertainment excellence. The Marching Band performs for all home football games; participates in Homecoming, Band Night, and Family Day activities; performs exhibitions at area and national marching band festivals and competitions; and travels to one or two away games each year. Membership is open to any student in the university by audition and field try-out at the annual pre-season Band Camp, held in August prior to the Fall Semester.

With a tradition of enthusiastic excellence, this all-volunteer organization provides spirited musical entertainment in support of the EMU men's and women's basketball teams, performing for regular home games and post-season tournament play, including the Mid-American Conference and NCAA Tournaments. Consisting primarily of non-music majors, members are selected by audition during the Fall Semester each year.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays 4-6 p.m. December through the end of basketball season
